Yeehaw!! Blog

Deep thoughts from a Yeehaw…..

I was reading the bible and this passage jumped out at me.  Jesus said in the gospel of John chapter 1 verse 38, “What do you seek?, to two of John the baptists disciples that started following Him after he walked by..  In the amplified He says “What are you looking for?”.

Jesus is asking us the same thing today.  What are you looking for?  Are you seeking me or the things that I can do for you.  I am the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End,…I Am your Great Deliverer, your Redeemer, your Everything.  While you seek Me you’ll see all your wants and cares fade away while your needs are being filled.

Oh, how we overlook Him sometimes when we’re seeking Him for things specifically in our lives.  What do we seek?  I’m not at all suggesting that if we are petitioning Him for healing, finances, or others that we’re only thinking of ourselves.  I do think however, that we have the tendency to lose vision sometimes and get caught up in the moment while we’re praying for or about things in our lives.

If He is truly my everything..I will seek, I will follow, I will uncompromisingly pursue Him.  My Holy God and Savior…I love You.  You’re all I want and need.  If all I had were You, that would be enough.  Your blood is enough.

This might be a little off topic but I was reading the other day and God led me to Ephesians 2:8-10.  He spoke to me again that it’s by His grace that I’ve been saved through faith and that His gift of salvation can not be attained by anything that I could ever do but it’s a gift from God.  Verse 10 states that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God had prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

I found that workmanship in the Greek (which is most of the new testament is translated from) emphasizes God as the designer, the universe as His creation and the redeemed believer as His new creation.  Before we came to Jesus, our lives had no rhyme or reason.  He has brought us balance, symmetry, and order.  We are God’s poem, His work of art.

There is this saying that I’ve heard and it usually starts with, don’t let your “but” get in the way.  For example, when someone is trying to explain their way out of something or they’re trying to prove their side of the story they usually say, “(but) then this happened”, or… “(but) you know I’m always good at holding my word”, or etc…

I just love this topic.  It’s because I have the freedom that He gave me through His never ending love.  When I think about all that He has done for me, ohh, I could just fall and worship at His feet.  Jesus came and put His foot in the closing door of my life and swung it open.  I am free of the guilt of sin.  There is nothing that can hold me down except for me, myself and I.  He’s done it all!

Look at this in the book of Ephesians chapter 2 verse 4.
“But God–so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us.”

Look at this.  But God….!  Think of the way you were or still are trapped in sin and then say BUT GOD — so rich is He in His mercy!!!!  Ever since the sin of the first man Adam we have been held by it, But God…, the second man Jesus has set us free.  We no longer have to live with guilt or shame.

You may say, yeah, yeah, but I’m already saved.  Ask the Holy Spirit though to reveal to you anything that might be holding you from living your life in the grace of God.  I don’t care if you’ve screwed up today…You don’t need to hold on to that guilt of sin.  But God — so rich is He in His mercy!  I’m not in anyway trying to imply that we can keep on sinning because we’re forgiven.  God forbid.  We can keep on trying on our own but His grace cannot be earned by our good behavior (Eph 2:9).  His grace has everything to do with what He has already done by Him shedding His blood (Titus 3:4-7).  I am forgiven from now until eternity.

My siblings in Christ, make up your mind to serve the living God and even though you’re still going to mess up from time to time you have a Savior that you can go to.  Say, “Jesus I’m sorry for what I did, please help me not to do that again” and then move on.  You are forgiven already.

For those sitting on the side lines, God has called you to be one of His.  Call on Jesus today.  Tell Him that you know that you’re a sinner and confess to Him that He is your Lord and that you receive His forgiveness that He already provided through Jesus blood.  Tell Him..I receive your forgiveness and then choose to live your life for Him.

I know from my own life that I sometimes can hold guilt and shame when I screw up sometimes.  I’ve come to the realization that Gods grace was not only available when I first came to Jesus but is throughout my whole life.  I’ve learned to trust in His grace everyday.  I’m learning to fight fire by proclaiming what I know is true in Gods word.

Try making time today and go read Ephesians chapter 2 verses 1 through 8 to see where I’m coming from.  I’m currently reading this from the Amplified version.

Anyways, I just wanted to throw this out there to anyone that’s looking.

–May God richly bless you.

I’ve been hungry for some time now but not for natural food as some might be.  This is a hunger for more of God, His word, and communion with Him.  He is my One and Only Savior and Peace.

I’ve been in the new testament studying the second book of Timothy in chapter 1 verse 5-7 for the last few days.  I found that I need to stir up the gift that God has given me.  Then I asked myself, how do I do that?  I prayed about it, asked God and continued to study.  I love it when the life in God’s word is revealed to me.  I find that most of the time that when I read through God’s word that the life or truth of it doesn’t always jump out at me or is revealed at that very minute.  Maybe it’s just me, not sure, but I find that I need to chew on the word of God, and sometimes for days and even weeks before I’ll receive the life or revelation of what my Jesus is giving me.

How do you stir up the gift that God has given you?  This might be a gift that you know you have used in the past but for some reason might have slowed down or discontinued practicing it.  You may even have a gift that you’ve never seen or used in your life before.  But the reasons for letting the gift go stagnant could be anything short of a distraction.  I’m sure we have many reasons but God is telling us now, to stir up the gift.  When a flowing river gets dammed up or jammed then the flow of it stops there.  It then becomes what I call the back waters.  The back waters is where stagnancy can occur.

We are responsible to stir up our gift.  I believe that what Paul was doing was trying to put Timothy in remembrance of the gift, in trying to stir it up in him.  I believe that remembrance is the beginning step of the stirring.  Don’t let the fire of your spiritual gift be snuffed.  I believe that if we begin practicing the gift of God that he’s given us that the stirring will only grow.  Paul spoke to Timothy in verse 7 saying “for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”.  By reading this passage we find that it seems that Paul knew something about Timothy.  Maybe he knew that Timothy was timid or hesitant in stepping out.  He’s encouraging us to not be fearful of the unknown or of others.  Let this gift be used out of love and of a sound mind.  Our Jesus has given us love and a sound mind.

I also believe that praying in the Spirit can stir up the gift.  Look at this in the book of Jude in the first and only chapter at verses 20 and 21 “Jud 1:20  But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;
Jud 1:21  Guard and keep yourselves in the love of God; expect and patiently wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)–[which will bring you] unto life eternal.”.

So lets stir up the gift that our Lord Jesus has made possible that we should receive from Holy Spirit.  Let’s walk in faith and love, and not in fear.  Let’s move in the gift when God says move.  Let’s pray in the Holy Spirit more often.

He is so faithful.  Our only heavenly Father is so faithful and His love for us is so great.

We went for an evening drive to the Starbucks in Lapeer.  We ended up getting these cinnamon dolce latte drinks and I was able to capture this on video….I love my Jennifer.

Listen to the woman that serves us.  We think she just came up with that accent because she thinks that it’s cool or something.
By the way, the drinks were very good.

Below is a newsletter from January 11, 2010 that I wanted to share with you that’s from someone that I respect very much, Dr. Jack Van Impe.  I know that not all of you are into prophecy but this is a good read.  I hope you all enjoy it.  May God open your hearts and bless you all.

Note to the reader: As we prepare our hearts to hear the message of God in chapters seven through twelve, it’s important to remember that Daniel often spoke of visions and dreams that he encountered later in his life. Some he received prior to the events of chapters five and six; at least one was received later.

Daniel 7:1-14

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.

Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.

And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.

And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

We are now going to move away from the historical material that we encountered in chapters one through six and plunge into the exciting depths of Daniel’s prophetic material, starting in chapter seven. Daniel’s end-time dream in this chapter consisted of symbols of real events to come-mysteries we are now able to unravel. In many ways, chapters two and seven of the Book of Daniel are similar in that they portray the most comprehensive pictures of history to its conclusion.

Chapter two depicted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream concerning the great statue with a head of gold down to its feet and toes of iron mixed with clay-a prediction of how the Babylonian empire would be destroyed by Medo-Persia, followed by the conquering superpowers of Greece and Rome. Chapter seven refers to these identical empires in the form of beasts, indicating that within the final revived Roman Empire there will be many problems during the course of its restoration. In fact, one major challenge after another can already be observed within the framework of the European Union presently taking shape.

To the extent we saw unity in chapter two, we see diversity in chapter seven. But regardless of the message, the single most exciting thing that you are now reading is the fulfillment of Daniel 12:4, which says,

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

The Book of Daniel was designed to be a mysterious, closed, sealed book until the time of the end, but at the time of the end the Holy Spirit would enlighten people to expound this great portion of God’s Word. This is now our assignment, and you are privileged to have a ringside seat as we begin to unravel the mysteries so long alien to anyone’s understanding.

The Times of the Gentiles

The Jewish people controlled Jerusalem until 586 B.C. Then, according to Daniel 1:1, Nebuchadnezzar and his troops marched into the Holy City and took its inhabitants back as captives to Babylon. It is important to remember that this single historical event marked the beginning of what is known as “the times of the Gentiles.” An important caveat was spoken by Jesus in Luke 21:24 when He said,

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

Jesus was saying that Jerusalem would remain under Gentile control until the time of the end. Isn’t it fascinating that from June 5 through June 10, 1967-as a result of the Six-Day War-the Jews took back Jerusalem and have been in control of the Holy City ever since? Even though we are still in the era called “the times of the Gentiles,” this remarkable historical reality reminds us how close we are to the time of the end. How can we say this with such certainty? In Zechariah 14:2-4 God states:

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

This entire scenario began with Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. and ends when Jesus Christ returns to take Jerusalem back from the Gentiles. We are extremely close to that time when such an event takes place. Here’s why. The Gentiles could not take Jerusalem from the Jews until the Jews controlled the city-which happened in 1967 after 2,553 years of Gentile dominion. According to Jesus, the generation who lives to see this event will be alive for the battle to recapture Jerusalem by the Gentiles plus observe Christ’s return.

The Four Beasts

Daniel dreams about four winds and four beasts-all which represent the same four powers we read about in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in chapter two: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, along with the ten toes of iron mixed with clay-a description of the revived Roman Empire, a regrouping of nations I believe to be the European Union. The fourth beast has ten horns, similar to the ten toes on Nebuchadnezzar’s image: again, symbolic of the restored Roman Empire.

The four winds blowing upon the sea indicate trouble-and all these nations near the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, and the Mediterranean have indeed experienced troublesome times throughout history. However, only when the European Union ultimately produces the Antichrist will the world truly know what real trouble is. It will be nothing like the nuisance these nations have been prior to this time in history. Isaiah 57:20 states,

But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.”

Now let’s look at the four beasts and indicate what each represents. Beast number one-a lion with the wings of eagles-is the same power that was described in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream as the “head of gold”-the Babylonian empire. The wings of the lion suggest that it is a swift beast, with the ability to conquer great nations with its mighty armies. But as its wings are “plucked,” the kingdom begins to deteriorate, even though there remains a hint of Nebuchadnezzar’s humanitarianism. Since verse 4 makes reference to this first beast “being given a man’s heart,” you’ll recall that this is the manner in which Nebuchadnezzar closed out his days after his conversion experience-compassionate, docile, and caring for his subjects.

Beast number two is a bear that raises itself up on one side, holding three ribs in its teeth-conceivably representing Lydia, Babylon, and Egypt-a hungry beast, and capable of gorging itself. Following the pattern of Nebuchadnezzar’s image, this second beast is a symbol of the Medes and the Persians, with Darius ruler of the Medes and Cyrus the Persians. Ultimately, however, the Persians demonstrated greater strength because of their massive armies, and, as a result, the bear “lifted itself up on one side,” indicating Persian political and military superiority, all borne out by historical fact.

Beast number three is Greece, a leopard with four wings and four heads. The wings picture the speed of Alexander the Great and his enormous armies, reckoned to be the swiftest in the known world. Alexander conquered one and one-half million square miles of the globe, stretching for more than eleven thousand miles from Greece in the west to India in the east, a man who, even after his many conquests, is said to have wept because he felt he had no more worlds to conquer.

Beast number four is Rome-a terrible beast with enormous power to maim, crush, and kill. So violent is this beast that no animal on earth can represent it. Its iron teeth are similar to the toes on the image composed of iron mixed with clay as observed in Daniel chapter two. Its ten horns are a graphic description of the final revived Roman Empire-fulfilled in 1981 when Greece became the tenth nation to join the European Union.

Some people ask me, How can these things be? How can you be so certain that your interpretation of Daniel’s dream is correct?

First of all, the nations are mentioned by name in Daniel 1:1, 8:20, 8:21, and Romans 1:7. These empires cover a period of 676 years. Adding scholarship to the truth of God’s Word, a prophet by the name of Esdras wrote in 90 A.D. that there was little doubt that the fourth beast was Rome. Add to these the research insights of Drs. Gabelein, Scofield, Bultima, Ironside, Barnhouse, DeHaan and other evangelical scholars, and the evidence mounts that the only possible meaning of the symbolic fourth beast is Rome itself. Specifically, Dr. Harry Ironside, pastor of Moody Memorial Church, said there will arise a great confederacy of nations springing forth from an old Roman Empire that will become the devil’s last trump card.

I’m sure most of you have heard about the devastating earthquake that happened in Haiti yesterday.  I know it might depend where you have read about this at but I’ve seen reports that there could be over to 100,000 people dead.  The dead are being laid or piled on the sides of the streets because there are so many of them and not enough body bags.  There is help coming from the US and other places but it almost seems like it just cannot get there fast enough.

It breaks my heart to hear and see the hurting people over there.  This is such an unbelievably horrific thing to happen anywhere.  Still, I cannot help but to think why did this happen to such a impoverished place such as Port-Au-Prince Haiti.

I did a look-up on the Haitian religions.  Among the religions, they are Protestantism, Roman Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist, Muslim and Jehovah’s Witness.  The reports show that 16% of the population is Protestant and 80% are Roman Catholic.  Also among these, roughly half the population practices Voodoo.  How can it be that more than 95% of Haitians are practicing Christianity but then half the population practices Voodoo?  The Haitian Voodoo mostly came from the African slaves in the 16th century when they were brought to Haiti.  Most of the African slaves were forced to convert to their owners religion (Roman Catholicism) which would explain the reason that 80% of them are Roman Catholic and still practicing Voodoo.

How can man serve two masters like that?  I guess this might just be like any other Christian that struggles with sin.  Hmmm, or maybe not.  Didn’t know this before checking into it but I found that in the principal belief in Haitian Voodoo there are deities who are subordinate to a greater god named bondye.  This is a huge issue then between Christianity and Haitian Voodoo.  How can one serve the living God and then practice voodoo or serve another god?

In the new testament Matthew 24:7 Jesus says, for nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places.  In Verse 8 Jesus says, All these are the beginning of sorrows.

I don’t mean to be harsh in anyway to the people of Haiti.  They are loved (John 3:16) greatly by my Lord Jesus.  Here are a few questions that run through my brain though.  Is this happening of the worst earthquake in history a judgment call from the Almighty?  Is this something that occurred because the door (practicing the beliefs of voodoo) was left open and not closed forever?  Or did this just occur out of happenstance?

My Jesus…I pray for the people of Haiti today, that they would hear and find You today as they pray for Your help.  I pray for speedy supplies and help for them.  God, you know where they are right now in their lives.  Touch them, reveal Yourself, Your love to them again today.  I know that You hear my prayer Father.  Thank You.  I bless You.  In Jesus name I pray these things. Amen.

Jesus is teaching us about spritual hunger by using the analogy of physical hunger.  He is effectively saying that the Holy Spirit is charged with creating in us a spiritual hunger.  The Greek word for hunger is peinao, and speaks of being desperate for nourishment, experiencing gnawing pains, and literally starving.  It is one of the strongest words in the Greek language and it describes something that is a matter of life or death.  It’s not like casually saying, “It is noon so it’s time to eat.”  Rather, it’s like desperately saying, “If I don’t eat something I’m going to die.  I’m at the very brink of starvation.  I am famished.”

Most of us in America may use such phrases occasionally, but we likely don’t truly understand them.  Tragically though, many people around the world live daily at the brink of starvation.  When they eat or drink, it is literally a life saving action.  It is not just a time consuming activity or habit.  It is a matter of life and death.  That’s the meaning of the word translated “hunger” in the Greek language.  It’s neither trivial nor optional; it’s essential.  It must happen or we will not live.

When we experience desperate spritual hunger, it is because the Holy Spirit is at work in us.  Deep spiritual hunger does not produce simply a a casual interest in God; it produces a deep passion for God.  It’s the difference between saying, “Please don’t’ tell me I have to sing that chorus again” as opposed to saying, “Jesus, I can’t sing enough about you because I love you so much.”  It’s the difference between asking, ” Do I have to read my Bible every day?”  as opposed to saying, “Where is my Bible?  I need the Word of God to make it through today.”  It’s not simply a daily habitual activity; it’s a matter of life.  Jesus is saying that the Holy Spirit creates this in us.
